Article & Photography Submissions

ADIP happily accepts submissions of articles & photography. ADIP does not pay writers or photographers. Writers will receive a byline and 2 contributor’s copies, photographers receive a photo credit (in all sections but ZSCENE) and contributor’s copies upon request.

Articles accepted in the categories of (Mexican) History, Food, Culture, Art, Entertainment, Travel, Finance, Business, Real Estate, Sports, Community, Philanthropy, Flora, Fauna, Design, Architecture, Ecology, and often other topics by prior request, please read over our archives to see editorial style and if topics have been covered recently. ADIP is first and foremost a tourism promotion publication that celebrates Mexico. We do not want: news coverage, controversy, politics, nor anything that is anti-promotional of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo or Mexico. Article size preferred 500-1500 words.

Feel free to submit any article that fits within those guidelines to info@adip.info or contact us for specific themes or availability in our editorial calendar. We set our annual editorial calendar in August and September and prefer all articles to be submitted by October 1, but do occasionally accept articles throughout the season, contact us for more information info@adip.info

Photography is usually assigned to accompany articles and is by assignment only, if you will be in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo during the high season and would like to offer your services, please contact us info@adip.info

We very occasionally need generic Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo photos for publication or on our website, usually in the categories of: activities, food, shopping, beach, please let us know before submitting so we can make space in the inbox.

PHOTOS ALWAYS NEEDED for
Z-Scene - take pictures of your parties and social events, submit them with the subject line: Z-Scene and the name of the event, and the names of ALL people pictured (1st and last names preferred) to info@adip.info

Caught Reading - if you see anyone reading ADIP take their photo and submit it with their name and place you saw them reading (ask their permission 1st) to info@adip.info

Writers In Residence Program & Writers Retreats

Writers in Residence Program
ADIP Publisher, Catherine Krantz, arrived in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo in September 1998 with a stack of empty notebooks and a plan to stay a year and write. She is still here, has filled many notebooks, and thinks Zihuatanejo is a wonderfully inspiring place for any writer. Many writers spend time here and many inspired creations have been born here, maybe your muse is Zihuatanejo.

ADIP Needs Writers, Editors
Ideal candidates will have excellent writing skills, an adventurous spirit, a flexible demeanor, a cooperative and helpful personality, and a love of Mexico. Bi-lingual a plus, knowledge of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo or Mexico a plus, computer, internet, and online posting skills a plus. We offer: An opportunity to get hands-on magazine experience learning reporting, writing, copy-editing, online posting, blogging, and e-books, while receiving writing credits in a high-quality international publication. A chance to immerse yourself in Mexican culture, live in a beautiful Pacific coast beach town, and help foster a community of writers in an inspiring environment. **Involvement with the other writers is not required and participation can be as structured or unstructured as you like, depending on the wishes of each group. (Possible activities include: Workshops/lectures to attend or offer within the community or schools, Weekly public readings, Weekly Editorial or staff meetings, Writers discussion groups, Field trips, Spanish classes…) You offer: 10 - 20 hours a week: writing, editing, web posting, or office assistance, with community events reporting duties on some evenings or weekends. All other time is yours to devote to your own writing, learning Spanish, exploring… Terms are October – April, Minimum 1 month, maximum 6 months. Writers Retreats
Not interested in working for a magazine, just want some quiet time to write. There are also scheduled Writers Retreats during the high season, from 1 week to 1 month, for writers of any kind. With weekly fees starting at $500 US, you have your own separate 1 or 2 bedroom apt in a pleasant, peaceful guest house compound, 5 minutes walking distance to La Ropa beach, some meals included. Each Writers Retreat has space for 10 writers and is designed for self-directed writers to work on their own projects. No seminars/education is offered, but interaction with the other retreat participants and ADIP Writers in Residence is available as are weekly public readings, contact ADIP for more information and retreat dates info@adip.info.
