JAN 6: Opening Jorge Rosano exhibition, Coconuts—Zihuatanejo, Gro. Internationally known artist Jorge Rosano exhibits his 3-D cut paper sculpture, inspired by the pre-Hispanic Indian paper cutting tradition that has been practiced in Mexico for centuries. Inauguration cocktail at the bar at Restaurant Coconuts, starts 7pm.

JAN 14: ZIH Galeria Cocktail Party, Exhibition and Raffle --Zihuatanejo, GRO. All season long ZIH Galeria is celebrating their 5th Anniversary. Come see their fine art painting and sculpture form renowned Mexican and international artists and see their new five-year anniversary year commemorative agenda / calendars with 26 full color images from the Gallery’s artists. Two paintings and agendas will be raffled off, starts at 7pm.

JAN 14: Martini Sampler & Silent Auction, Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival Fund Raiser—Zihuatanejo, GRO. Come mix martinis with music at Rick’s Bar in central Zihuatanejo, where $200 pesos gets you five samples of Rick’s famous martinis and helps raise funds for Zihuatanejo’s non-profit International Guitar Festival. Come enjoy live music from local and international talents and bid on some great goods and services at the silent auction, 7pm.

JAN 21: Jewelry Exhibition by Jette Zirpins –Zihuatanejo, GRO. GALART Jewelry exhibition at La Cantina Bar & Grill at the Hotel Villa del Sol, 7 - 10pm.

JAN 21: Book signing & Art Exhibition, Coconuts—Zihuatanejo, GRO. Book release party of Zihuatanejo author Elizabeth Ashe’s newest book, "The Obsidian Stone," sequel to her very popular “The Jade
Pendant," which is set in Zihuatanejo and came out last year. In conjunction with an exhibition of paintings by Alfredo Tapia. Restaurant Coconuts, 7pm.

FEB 16: “A Night Honoring King Netzahualcoyotl”—Zihuatanejo, GRO. Enjoy a celebration of Aztec culture with costumes, music, literature and a very special presentation of dance and poetry to be read in Nahuatl, Spanish and English by students from the multi-lingual Netzahualcoyotl School for indigenous children in Zihuatanejo. 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the fabulous La Cala Restaurant at Puerto Mio, with its breathtaking views of the entrance to Zihuatanejo Bay. Cocktails and appetizers will be served, plus live music and a silent auction of select fine craft and local items. MAR 26 – APR 2: 3rd Annual Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival --Zihuatanejo, GRO. For the third year in a row, the streets will be full of music when invited guitarists from across the globe come to Zihuatanejo with great music for a great cause. ZIGF is a week long benefit festival with a full eight days of live music including: Gala Dinner shows nightly, Live Music shows nightly, an Opening Concert Sunday March 26, a Closing Concert April 1 and a free children’s concert during the week, with other special events planned. Over 60 artists submitted for 2006, 18 international artists are confirmed so far, check www.zihuafest.info for artists list and complete festival information.
