Galeria Maya’s two locations have all sorts of intricate hand-made artesian wares to wear and wonder at. In their Cuauhtemoc #42 location, along with the permanent collection of internationally renowned sculptor Arturo Macias’, Women and Goddesses, you will also find beautifully crafted, hand sewn and embroidered clothes from Guatemala. At their Nicolas Bravo # 50 location is a bright and color display of folk art. Fun and fanciful are the wooden hand-painted animals from Oaxaca, with realism and whimsy they are hard to resist. Sequsino is a new furniture and home accessories store in Zihuatanejo where you will find a broad mix of traditional and contemporary pieces for the home and is a refreshing change from the usual array of tropical and rustic furniture normally found here. Sequsino has been based for fifteen years in Chipilo, Puebla, a town just outside of the city of Puebla with a large Italian community. The strong Spanish colonial influence of the region, along with the blend of Italian and Mexican heritage and culture is a vibrant mix that is reflected in their furniture design. The small world class manufacture has taken the local furniture making traditions and brought it to the world exporting to the United States, Italy, Spain, France and England and now Zihuatanejo.
