Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival Tequila Tasting Fundraiser, December 22, 2005
DEC: ProjectZihua Annual Children’s Book drive-—Zihuatanejo, GRO. The Holiday Season is a special time of year, a time for giving and sharing, especially when it comes to children. Last years Book Drive brought in 350 donated books and over 200 additional books were purchased from financial donations. These books were given out to six schools. If you‘d like to donate books, visit the web site: www.ProjectsZihua.com click on Powell’s Partners for a list of Children’s Books in Spanish. Books can be dropped off at La Ceiba-Café, Col La Madera, mornings 8 – 11 am, closed Wednesday or see Calendar for additional times and places. If you are coming for the holidays, why not bring a Special Christmas gift to the children of Zihuatanejo.

DEC 6: Labor Relations Work Shop—Zihuatanejo, GRO. Every year in México 90% of labor lawsuits filed, are lost by the employer, some with grave consequences: the closing of companies, bankruptcy and the loss of investments. This is usually due to the deficiency of legal advice in the preventative stage. If you are a business owner in Mexico or are thinking about becoming a business owner in Mexico, or have even one domestic employee, you really should educate yourself on the Labor laws in Mexico, some might surprise you and many could cause you tremendous problems. This 6-8 hour Seminar will be presented by Lic. Isabel S.S Moles y Escobar, of the Law Firm MOLES & ASSOCIATES , S.C. which Specializes in Labor Law. Lic. Isabel S.S Moles y Escobar has 35 years of experience in field of labor relations in Mexico. DEC 10: Comedy. Emily Levine Live at Restaurant Coconuts, Zihuatanejo, GRO. “Witty, whimsical, deeply thoughtful and most of all, completely hilarious” –LilyTomlin. “One of the “Queens of Comedy”—Newsweek. “See Levine at the peril of splitting your sides, expanding your mind and exiting a better person”--NORMAN LEAR. Emily Levine takes the audience on a zany-brainy ride though the universe. Live performance in the garden at Restaurant Coconuts. Cover charge, seating starts at 9:30PM. Reservations suggested. Dec 10: Children’s Christmas Concert –Zihuatanejo, GRO. Istituto Lizardi’s Gran Concerto de Navidad / Annual Christmas Gala Concert. Don’t miss this impressive Children’s Choir concert, conducted by Lester Beatie, the Pre-K through High School kids train for months and the event sells out every year. Get you tickets in advance at Instituto Lizardi. They are $110 pesos per person. Concert is held on the lawn at the Las Brisas in Ixtapa. Get there early or you won’t find a parking space, starts at 8pm.

DEC 10-11: Seminar: Introduction to Tibetan Philosophy and Psychology, by Israel Lifshitz of the Lhundup Lamrim Ling in Morelia, -- Zihuatanejo, GRO. Contact Rocío Madrazo 554-7774 for reservations and more information.

DEC 12: Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe (Fiesta de la Virgin de Guadalupe)--Nationwide. The most important holiday in Mexico in which millions of pilgrims converge on the Mexico City Basilica of the country’s patron saint to pay tribute. The square in front of the Basilica is a stage for singing, dancing and celebration.

DEC 16–24: Posadas--Nationwide. Processions recreating Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem, in which people holding candles go door to door to seek shelter. Festivities include piñatas, Christmas caroling and special foods and sweets.

DEC 22: Tequila Tasting Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival Fund Raiser—Zihuatanejo, GRO. Come join the fun, support the Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival and hear some great live music while sampling Mexico’s most popular spirit under the stars in an authentic Mexican style courtyard. El Pueblito Restaurant in Zihuatanejo, doors open 7pm, $250 pesos for five tastes from select tequila’s off El Pueblito’s impressive tequila menu of over 100 tequilas, with snacks, live music and plenty of room for dancing.

DEC 24, 25: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day --Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, GRO. In Mexico, Christmas is traditionally celebrated on Christmas Eve with a trip to the church and a very late dinner with family. Many Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo restaurants will be offering special Christmas menus, both on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

DEC 30: Jewelry Exhibition, latest collection of renowned designer Arthur Koby –Zihuatanejo, GRO. Come see the bold and beautiful creations of New York-based jewelry designer Arthur Koby. He will be displaying his latest collection, certain to inspire at La Barca Bar in Hotel Villa del Sol, 7:00 to 10:00 pm.

DEC 31: Liberation of the Turtles—Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Guerrero. Most hotels in the region participate in a special marine animal protection program which includes collecting and protecting turtle eggs until they hatch and are ready for release. The releasing event symbolizes the beginning of a new year full of hope for these marvelous animals.

DEC 31: New Year’s Eve Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, GRO. Most restaurants will have special New Year’s Eve Menus and night clubs in Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo will have parties with special New Year’s Eve cover charges and packages. Fireworks are displayed over Zihuatanejo Bay and Ixtapa Beach.

JAN 14: ZIH Galeria Cocktail Party, Exhibition and Raffle --Zihuatanejo, GRO. All season long ZIH Galeria is celebrating their 5th Anniversary. Come see their fine art painting and sculpture form renowned Mexican and international artists and see their new five year anniversary year commemorative agenda / calendars with 26 full color images from the Gallery’s artists. Two paintings and agendas will be raffled off, starts at 7pm.

JAN 14: Martini Sampler & Silent Auction, Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival Fund Raiser—Zihuatanejo, GRO. Come mix martinis with music at Rick’s Bar in central Zihuatanejo, where $200 pesos gets you five samples of Rick’s famous martinis and helps raise funds for Zihuatanejo’s non-profit International Guitar Festival. Come enjoy live music from local and international talents and bid on some great goods and services at the silent auction, 7pm.

MAR 26 – APR 2: 3rd Annual Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival --Zihuatanejo, GRO. The streets will be full of music when invited guitarists from across the globe come to Zihuatanejo with great music for a great cause.
