With waves from three to four feet tall, the competition began December 3rd at 8am and ended December 5th at 3:30pm. The last day of the competition the waves were more or less a foot and a half taller, which allowed the competitors to give a better demonstration of what they could do on the waves. 50 competitors participated in two categories, with some great surf notables coming out to compete. Ranked second nationally, Raul Medina Morelos, of the Mexican National Surfing Team, is the winner of numerous national tournaments, and was also the highest ranking Mexican surfer in the world after his showing at the past World Championships held in Ecuador.
