Volume 6 - Issue 36

January 2005

Welcome to Another Day in Paradise.

Peace on earth, or just give me some peace.

The holidays come but once a year, and I’m thinking that’s a good thing. Somewhere around mid-December, our “sleepy little fishing village” wakes up and starts hopping. The streets fill up with visitors and traffic and the number of events, activities and offerings multiply. This is not my beautiful house, I can’t get out the driveway. This is not my beautiful life, woe is to be working with so much fun going on.

If you don’t want to take my word for it, check out our events page. Coming up we have festivals, carnivals, events, exhibitions and extravaganzas, and that was just what I was able to find out about.
January 8th, Coconuts hosts an exhibition with Lupina Lara Elizondo, in conjunction with the second in an ongoing series of Zihuatanejo International Guitar Festival Fund Raising events. Sponsor an artist ! A tremendous group of international artists would like to come play in Zihua, airfare sponsors are being sought for artists as close as California and as far away as Brazil, British Columbia, England and India, be a part of an international outpouring.

January brings in the blues, at the new Blue Mamou Blues Club, with the beginning of a season’s long stretch of international guests appearing nightly, don’t miss their January 18th official grand inauguration blues blowout.

Zihua’s annual Sailfest comes back by the boat load, and our annual cruiser contingent offers up a week of water related activities culminating in a sail boat parade around the bay, fun family festival with the proceeds benefiting local charities.

Por Fin ! Carnival comes back to Zihua after a 25 year hiatus, filling the streets of Zihua with Mardi Gras revelry.

You should’ve stayed in last night, its January, there’s no turning back now !
