April 2005/39
Welcome to Another Day in Paradise.
In like a Tailspin out like a Tango. In like a Thunderclap out like a Mudslide. In like a Shirley Temple out like a Scotch on the rocks. All good things must come to an end and so ends the 2004 -2005 season.
When I think back over these last few months, it all seems an impossible blur. Could it be all the bar drink research? They say that sleep deprivation causes hallucinations, and I am starting to see things out the corner of my eye. Little people or gnomes or something…or maybe just blurs. They also say it causes paranoia, so if I’m starting to think that the little blurry things I see out of the corner of my eye, are following me… Does that mean I need to get some sleep, or visit an eye doctor? (or shall I get a really big bat and turn around fast and catch ‘em ?)
Perhaps it is merely the blur of time passing and no amount of sleep can stop that. Maybe a summer vacation will slow things down…get the peripheral vision back in whack. But every year I am more encouraged about the state of our place and every year I have every intention of throwing off the shackles of a 6 month season and putting out a summer issue. I’m here, more of you are here every year and some might say the market just almost demands it. And well, I’m starting to get used to the gnomes, perhaps they’d be good company, in July, say. And then there’s this other idea I have, not one of my crazy ones but entertaining nonetheless, of a “Best of…” compilation, a jumbo-size edition pretty enough to sell. So keep checking back with the website over the summer: www.adip.info I have a sneaking suspicion, after a week or two of sleep I’m going to get real bored, and then anything’s possible. This year, especially, it seems inevitable. So really, it doesn’t have to be good-bye, it can still be:
Until next time,
