It’s Magic
So good to be back in the magical land of Z after being in Los Angeles where road rage appears to be a normal way of communicating. I stayed in the Magical Malibu Colony with Longtime and Dear friend, Mentor and Champion of LA’s Foster Children and other worthy organizations and All Around Awesome Woman NANCY MOONVES. The “Colony” consists of one road that is a half mile long, and most people who live there have some sort of celebrity. One day we counted five Hummers parked on that street (I still can’t get over the fact that a car is called a Hummer. I can remember when a “hummer” meant something I can’t mention here!) I also spent a magical month in Boulder, Colorado with Z Best Friends, SANDY and JAY MESINGER and my “hija” CHELSEA who goes to The University of Colorado. The Mesinger’s, have a gorgeous condominium in the ENRIQUE ZOZAYA designed Casa Que Ve Al Mar. We then went on to visit another magical place, Santa Fe, New Mexico before returning home to Z-Most Magical Place Of All. Zihuatanejo.

LOVE AND MARRIAGE
HELMUT LEINS, owner of the Hotel Villa Del Sol married the lovely ERIKA CORREIA RODRIGUEZ on the beach in front of La Cantina restaurant at the luxurious hotel. Dinner was a multi-course affair held in the formal dining room and guests came from around the globe. They were entertained by the Ballet Folklorica, a full mariachi band, watched spectacular fireworks, and danced to the music of a Cuban salsa band. MALI CHIPMAN and TAI SCHOEMAN were married in May on the beach next to La Perla at Playa la Ropa. Sisters of the bride TURQUESA, CHELAN, and LULU were beaming as were the many local and out of towners while Z-Always Amazing MARGO walked her beautiful daughter down the aisle. Dinner and dancing was held at the Gaviota and the joyous guests celebrated into the wee hours of the morning. MARTY TILLAND formerly of Troncones and MONICA GRAY were married in Patzcuaro, where they reside. And G-dfather of Troncones, DEWEY MCMILLIN and his beautiful bride JILL EDWARDS were the first Americans ever to be married at the Registro Civil in La Union. After the ceremony friends joined the couple at the Burro Burracho in Troncones for dinner, dancing and mucho merry-making. Best wishes to all the newlyweds.

THE STORK MARKET
Congrats to LUIS MUÑOZ and ELIZABETH BRAVO who welcomed a baby boy into the world, and to LULU who gave birth to daughter LUNA SAMANTHA in September. Papa RAMON is proud as can be. We’re happy for you all.

SHOWTIME
Z Publishing Maven CATHERINE and YourZ Truly buzzed up to Michoacán to attend the Morelia Film Festival. It was an enthusiastic and impressive week-long affair attended by celebrities and dignitaries. Directors WERNER HERZOG and BARBET SCHROEDER along with writer FERNANDO VALLEJO were honored and spoke to the crowd, as did various Mexican and international filmmakers. We are looking forward to going again next year and recommend it to all our film loving readers. While in Morelia we lunched at the first class Villa Montaña that sits high on a hill overlooking the city. Owner PHILIPPE de REISET and son NICOLAS, who is the General Manager, were as gracious as can be and the food was scrumptious. We also visited the charming city of Pátzcuaro and had laughs with the vivacious owner of La Casa de los Suenos Hotel, PRISCILLA MADSEN. They celebrated The Day of the Dead at this very special hotel by putting on a show of indigenous, traditional dances and decorations produced by YOLANDA AGUILAR who is the director of Bellas Artes in Mexico City.

FAVE RAVE’S
Our fave restaurants will be opening their doors this month. The spectacular KauKan restaurant which overlooks the bay of Zihuatanejo and Coconuts restaurant with its twinkling fantasy garden both have ZZZZlicious cuisine and atmosphere. And El Mediterraneo and El Chuleto are new restaurants worth trying. We ran into FERNANDO HERNANDEZ at Primero Piso in Pátzcuaro who was all excited about the redecorating of his restaurant Il Mare on Calle Escenica La Ropa. And JAIME ESKAURIATZA, gave a birthday party at his penthouse condo for son JOE, daughter JENNY and her boyfriend MAL, owners of the tasty Indian restaurant Gondwana in El Centro. BEV and ANDY, DAWN of Lulu Jones Cosmetics and hubby VICTOR “La Runda” VARGAS, SHIRLEY, and both GRACE’S, were among the well wishers.

DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES
The three day wine festival at Hotel Villa Del Sol was a smashing success. Warm and welcoming hotel managers NICOLE and JONATHAN WISE did a great job organizing the event and seeing to it that all the guests were having a great time. We attended on the last night of the fest when the featured winery was the internationally acclaimed Casa Madero, the oldest winery in Mexico. DANIEL MILMO, grandson of the original owner gave a comprehensive presentation of the wines and afterwards we adjourned to the formal dining room at the hotel. Among those experiencing the absolutely divine five-course meal were JUDITH WHITEHEAD of Paradise Properties, LOIS BROWN, and Brazilian RICARDO TEITELROIT who is opening Amulete on the road to Las Gatas, a bed and breakfast designed by the talented SR. ZOZAYA. After dinner the hotel chefs were introduced to shouts of “Bravo” among the applause. It was a scintillating and heady evening.

I WILL BE TRAVELING TO THE U.S. MORE OFTEN THIS SEASON AND I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR
E-MAILING ME Z- INFO.
