TRIPPING THE NIGHT FANTASTIC
All you ever wanted to Z were at the Coconuts cocktail event exhibiting Laura Rodriguez’ creative and colorful shadow boxes and lovely religious paintings. Among those on hand were the artist’s mother Elia Rodriguez, and sister Leticia who is our county consul, Erika from Mi Mascota, Tania Scales proprietress of one of our Fave Rave’s Galeria Maya, author Linda Fox whose book “Zihuatanejo Ixtapa guide to Casas, Camas, Comidas y Cosas is flying off the shelves (great info for one and all including the boaters, colorful stories about Z locals and Z history), international muralist James Crespinel, Z Beauty Isabel and her amor A.J., clothing designer Betsey Johnson and friends, Tim Sullivan and wife Carmen oohing and aahing over Luna Samantha, Lulu and Ramon’s daughter and Z Always Amazing Margo’s granddaughter, Luscious Lois and Dashing David Brown, Z-Logan, Rocio Madrazo of Galart, and owners of the ever popular restaurant, Joe and Patsy LoGiudice. Later in the week Joe and Patsy had a small group for dinner at their “fabienda” Casa Luna that included art curator Janice Brussard from Galveston, Tx., writer and comedian Emily Levine from Hollywood, Ca., Mary Rushing, and Z Publishing Maven Catherine among others. FYI: Josie Kuhn, fab singer and guitarist from Nashville, TN is back for the winter and playing at Rick’s Bar. And artist Julian Schnabel and wife Olatz back for their yearly sojourn playcationing with their twin sons in Z at the ZZZensational Casa del Arbol.
FLY ME TO THE MOON
My heartfelt gratitude to all of the Z Tribe who gathered to wish me well at the jewelry exhibition event of my Z Collection at Orlando’s Bar at the Hotel Villa Del Sol. Rocio Madrazo proprietress of Galart at the hotel organized a wonderful evening, assisted by daughter Haydee Pastelin. Among the many locals and out of towners were Ms. Extraordinaire Judith Whitehead of Paradise Properties, Conneryesque Bill Underwood, dress designer Alejandra Llamas, Eloisa Rodriguez of Hotel Villa Vera, Inez and Jim Proctor from Canada, Paty Montufar of Paty’s Mar y Mar, Pancho Shiell of N.Y., Vicky Monje owner of El Nopal, Yoga instructor Shirlena Montanye from Alaska, Mama Norma, Scintillating Cindee and Darling Dan Leo, Neglia and Ricardo Teitleroit owners of the fabulous new B&B Amulette , Lupita Esquires of the Rotary Club, jewelry designer Silvia Weinberg, Capt Tony and his Captivating Claire and daughters, Erica and Alana, Gracious Graciella, Delightful Leonora, Margo and “hija” Mali with hubby Tai Schoeman, Alexander Olsen from N.Y., Peter Lohr and uber jewelry designer Arthur Koby from N.Y., Morris and Helene Last from Michigan, and dear friend and agent to the starZ, Christopher Hart. Orlando was as warm and welcoming as ever as he created his magical drinks for everyone to enjoy. Owner of the hotel, Helmut Leins and his exuberant bride Erika were all smiles, and harmony abounded.
RESTAURANT RAMBLINGS
Television and film actress Shannon Dougherty was Scene feeding the crocodile while having drinks at El Manglar on Playa de la Ropa. She and her mystery man were staying at La Casa Que Canta and were also spotted at the Delfiniti and Sr. Frogs in Ixtapa. Also at El Manglar enjoying chef Apollo’s Z-licious cuisine was a chick party including Jill McMillin, Linda Walker Rodeheaver, Nancy Seely and Malury Ordas from Troncones, Lorraine Simpson from Montreal, Linda Bondy from Ixtapa and her mother Ann, and Linda Fox from Z. Happy newlyweds Kristina and Alan Johnson from Hancock Park, Ca. were dining at our Fave Rave Kau Kan restaurant, and a group including famous Mt. Everest climber Tina Sjogren and hubby were sighted at il Mare restaurant. On the waterfront at Café Marina, Paul and Monica, Carl Brisha, Joa Rubaloff and Mary Rushing were enjoying owner/chef Joe’s meatloaf and filet mignon which he serves every Friday night.
