IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE
Lots of wonderful Thanksgiving happenings: LOIS and DAVID had a quiet dinner at their “fabienda” with their boys BEEGE and NICKOLAS, TONY and CLAIRE PIAZZA and daughter, ERICA. JUDITH WHITEHEAD of Paradise Properties had a gathering at her lovely home in Ixtapa. Judith’s family, son ROB, daughter-in-law LUPITA of Lupita’s Boutique and Lupita’s daughter, VALERIA, CINDEE LEO and her Darling DAN, Dan’s mother CATHERINE, BILL UNDERWOOD and Z-hijas JESSIE and CHELSEA . Judith did most of the cooking and it was scrumptious. LINDA FOX of Villa Chefs made the fabulous desserts that were “to die for”. I actually had a dream about her Sweet Potatoe Souffle… (you shrinks out there could have a field day with that one!) LINDA also catered the very Happy Thanksgiving at Rick’s Bar where all the boatmen and women were in attendance. THE GANG’S ALL HERE: JOHN and CAROL of Zihrena Systems gave their yearly Thanksgiving event at their “stick house” at La Ropa Beach. By the time MARGO and I showed up the celebration was in full swing. Everyone contributed by bringing food and beverages. Among those feeling the love and loving the food were LEONORA, RICK and CISSY, JACKIE and RODNEY, CHAD, OWEN LEE and NADINE, PHILIP, THOM, TANIA of Galeria Maya (watch for the reopening of her gallery at the new location), NOEL, JOE LOGIUDICE who popped in before heading over to the yummy feast at Coconuts, SHIRLEY and TARA, tattoo artists RAUL and LILY, CHARLES MARK and LAUREN from San Fransisco, LISA from Boston, Publishing Maven CATHERINE, DOROTHY of the Ixtapa video store, JUDY GUERRERO, GRACE , LINDA and her sister SHARON, ELOISA RODRIGUEZ from Hotel Villa Vera, CARL, LIZ, BILL FISCH, SANDRA from Troncones, JEANNIE and MIKE, DONNA RAE, ERNESTO and BARBARA from Barra de Potosi, MONICA and PEDRO, LOGAN, CAPT. THE BONE CRUSHER
In town were Z-Brother MARK BROWNSTEIN and Z-Number One Ex-Hubby JERRY CRUMPLER from Malibu,Ca. who once upon a time played offensive tackle for the Dallas, Cowboys and was nicknamed the “Bone Crusher.” MARGO, and JUDITH joined us for dinner at the spectacular Kau Kan Restaurant above La Madera. We were greeted and treated graciously by owner/chef RICARDO and the next night we enjoyed the magical atmosphere and food at Coconuts Restaurant. Owners JOE and PATSY joined the table along with TONY and CLAIRE and lots of lively conversation ensued. Later in the week we had cocktails at the home of DIANNE and AL CLARK who reside most of the year in Seattle, Wa. Architect JORGE ESPINOSA DE LOS MONTEROS designed the spectacular abode which sits high above Playa de la Ropa. Afterwards we went down the hill to Il Mare for a lovely dinner and owner FERNANDO was as enthusiastic as ever! One can sure eat well here in Z, no?
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
A little bit of heaven at Coconuts the night Russian violinist LUDMILLA LUDKOVSKY appeared for an intimate show in the garden restaurant. Imagine this: It’s the night of the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, fire crackers are exploding and the sky is filled with bursts of brightly colored fireworks, the garden at Coconuts is lit up with hundreds of tiny white lights that look like all the stars in the sky just landed for the occasion and a very beautiful lady is passionately playing the most soulful as well as original Russian classical violin music this reporter has ever heard up close and personal. In fact, I had to remind myself to breathe during the performance. It felt like my own Romanian blood was being loved and caressed like no other! (We caught her playing at Atlantis Troncones in the following weekend!) The showing of LAURA RODRIGUEZ’ beautiful and festive shadow boxes in the inside bar was spectacular as well. Her work is truly a joy to behold. A double WOW night!!
BY THE SEA
ROCIO MADRAZO of Galart and GINGER CALLAWAY held a Holiday Bazaar at Ginger’s smashing seaside villa in Troncones. Many of the Troncones Residents were there along with Z-Townies to make the event a success. Among those on hand were BARB LINDLAN (what a joy she is), G-dfather of Troncones DEWEY (we send him love and best wishes for a speedy recovery) and JILL, MARISOL, EVA of Hacienda Eden, PHILIP and BARBARA from Casa Blanca, MICHAEL from the Inn at Manzanillo, KAREN, JUDITH, CATHERINE, AL and DIANNE, DAWN, Dentists TERE and LILY DIAZ, CARMEN, PILAR and daughter DANIELA, IRENE and MARTA SILVIA, TIA NINA, LOIS, PAULIE, JANET, artist LAURA RODRIGUEZ, and jewelery designer TED WEINSTEIN and wife from Seattle and Z-Best friends SANDY and JAY MESSINGER.
