A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS

EMIL MESINGER of Houston, Tx., husband of the late and “muy famosa” Houston Chronicle gossip and social columnist MAXINE MESINGER, father of Jetsales magnate and Z-Best Friend JAY MESINGER, and all around fab human being was in town to celebrate his eightieth birthday. It was a family affair at SANDY and JAY’S “swankienda” high above Playa La Ropa where Emil’s daughter JULIE HAAS and former publishing tycoon and restaurant guru hubby TOM, and sister FANET SOIFER from Amelia Island, Florida gathered to pay homage to the eighty year young Emil. Dear friend TOMMY CORCORAN, personal manager and TV producer long associated with the careers of CAROL BURNETT, JONATHAN WINTERS and JOAN RIVERS flew in from New York City to join the jovial group. Locals Z-Always Amazing MARGO, JUDITH WHITEHEAD of Paradise Properties, and BILL UNDERWOOD and friend ANNE stopped by to wish the birthday boy a Happy Happy before the family went across the street to wine and dine at the beautiful and exotic La Casa Que Canta. The next night saw the entire group and then some celebrating at the KauKan and the night after that they were lovin’ it at Coconuts. How they all got back on the plane to return to the other “real” world is beyond me, but they did and we are all the better for having had them grace our village by the sea! Hurry back, Papa, we love you.

”LETTING THE CHAT OUT OF THE BAG” (borrowed straight from Maxine) ERIC IDLE was flown in on a private plane by pal ROBIN WILLIAMS to celebrate his sixtieth year on the planet. He and wife TANYA, and Robin and family stayed and played at the Hotel Villa Del Sol. LAUREN HUTTON flew in to surprise Eric and join in on the celebration. Lauren who is a long time visitor of Z stayed at JOE and PATSY LOGUIDICE’S Casa Loma. JOE and PATSY own the popular restaurant Coconuts.

BY THE SEA

Yummy buffet and fashion show at Atlantis was a first for the Troncones hotel and restaurant. The “Tall House” was filled with art, home accessories, furnishings, clothing, and fine jewelry exhibits . Lupita’s, Casa Marina, Galeria Maya, Christina’s Closet and pewter pieces from Luna Azul were among the local tiendas represented. Argentinian artist GABRIEL VITTA, jewelry designer SANDRA JACKSON, well known Finnish artist KIRSTI ALOPAEUS, and famous artist MARI-CARMEN HERNANDEZ of Troncones and Paris, Fr. exhibited their paintings on this beautiful Sunday by the sea. A high point of the show was witnessing Glamorous GLORIA BELLACK and owner PATRICIA strutting their stuff poolside in leather thong bathing costumes designed by Lisa 2Bears from Dallas, Tx. A cheeky pair, you say? No doubt! YOU GO GIRLS!!!

FYI: Well known muralist and billboard artist JAMES CRESPINEL was Scene gracing the bar at La Perla and shopping for exotica at Galeria Maya. Famous modern artist DAMIEN HIRST who is reportedly enamored with Troncones was spotted in town buying a painting and other goodies at the Coca Cabana gift shop. ROCIO MADRAZO of Galart at the Hotel Villa del Sol held an exhibit of designer GIGI MIZRAHI’S beautiful and stunning jewelry pieces.

OSCAR BASH SMASH : Awesome Austonian, Sassy CISSY won the Oscar bash stash at LOIS and DAVID’S red carpet Oscar bash. She put this former Hollywoodite and others to shame by correctly voting for each and every winner on the Oscar ballot. We’ll see what happens next year Missy Cissy!!
