HAPPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN:
Bases were loaded at LA PERLA as were many of the guests watching the World Series at the TV Bar in the famous restaurant on Playa de la Ropa. Cheering the teams on were BILL FISCH, MARSHALL who owns Basil’s in Austin, Z-LOGAN (ha!), TANIA, Tennis-Pro RORY from Ixtapa, LINDA FOX, JOHN and CAROL, ROD and FLOR, MARGO, PAULA, BAINEY and LUCY from Baja,Ca., and lots and lots of Texans! EDEN’S had a big crowd at their Grand Opening in Troncones and PAUL is opening a new sushi bar called ZihuaSan. Welcome back one and all!!
AND THE ANGELS SING:
Dia De Los Muertos at the VILLA DEL SOL: Celebrating at the Inaugural Reception of “Cielito Linda” and the extravagant “ofrenda” remembering the Mexican GENERAL PORFIRIO DIAZ was the grandson of General Diaz, DON MANUEL PORFIRIO DIAZ and his granddaughters, LILY and TERE who are local dentists here in Z. Also attending was great-great grandaughter MARI TERE. Dressed
entirely in black and looking as handsome as ever was HELMUT LIENS owner of VILLA DEL SOL, while “novia” TATIANA was dazzling. Owner of Galart ROCIO
MADRAZO, and WIBKE LANGHORST lovely wife of general manager PETER KOEHLER, organized the event and ROCIO’S brother JOSE A. MADRAZO was the artist of the one-of-a-kind new age folk art pieces. A good time was had by all!
THE GANG’S ALL HERE:
Scene celebrating in COCONUTS were BOBBY HUGGINGS’ “Wild Bunch”, a group of avid sports fishermen who come here each year for the annual tournament. ”HUGGIE” hails from Palm Desert, Ca. while the other “Wild Bunchers” were from as far away as Alaska and Chicago. Our own A.J. GIBSON of Las Gatas and
GEORGE HOWARD (Mr. Nice Guy) won most of the tournament prizes. Big Bucks! We look forward to seeing them again next year. “Hostess With The Mostest” ISABEL caught her first barracuda last week on a beautiful moonlit eve. She reports that full-moon fishing is the only way to go and is delighted that she didn’t even break a nail! FYI: OWEN LEE owner of Las Gatas Beach Club has returned after recovering from back surgery. We’re so happy he’s feeling better. And sampling the Z-licious duck and foie gras salad at KAU KAN were ROZ WILSON of Beverly Hills, Ca., JANICE BRUSSARD of Galveston, Tx., BEVERLY and ANDREW, and JUDITH WHITEHEAD Proprietress of Paradise Properties. A Wild And Crazy Guy: Comedian STEVE MARTIN was “playcationing” at the VILLA DEL SOL as were fellow comedians ERIC IDLE and BILLY CONNELLY (sporting a blue goatee). TV Commercial Director GARY SOTO and wife ESTHER from St.Monica, Ca. were also poolside. Staying at the RESIDENCIA’S was ELENA SOLOW owner of Blue Jaguar Jewelry Designs. ELENA lived in Mexico for 24 years before moving to New York and her exquisite jewelry can be seen in ELLE and VOGUE magazines.
WHAT’S GOIN’ ON: Born to Be Wild:
JAGUAR TOURS in Troncones is going full speed ahead with their adventurous zip-lining, caving and canopy tours. KAT is running the shop and is all around “girl friday” and Adventure King HUW is the “Zip Master”. On The Launching Pad: At the Villa Del Sol, upcoming Galart event in December to present the sensational “organic” jewelry collection of GIGI MIZRAHI. In a separate Galart event, fashion accessory designer and ”sculptor” of jewelry, ARTHUR KOBY, will be in from New York City showing his fantasy pieces. Mr. Koby has designed for GEOFFREY BEENE, DONNA KARAN and OSCAR DE LA RENTA. Surely you will be able to find something to wear for New Year’s Eve!
IT TAKES A VILLAGE: Congratulations to members of VIVA BAHIA and SOS BAHIA who are doing a great job of helping educate our local children about ecological matters and keeping our water and beaches clean in Paradise.
