PRETTY IN PINK
Let’s Hear It For The Boy! Great fun at the surprise party for birthday boy DAVID CONNELL at his “fabienda” in Troncones. Everyone was “pretty in pink” including MAURA and toddler DIEGO, JOHN and CAROL, EVA and toddler AUGUST of Eden, Scintillating CINDEE and Darling DAN (in bubblegum pink and white striped shirt) JUDITH WHITEHEAD of Paradise Properties, the Hemingwayesque (or is it Conneryesque?) BILL UNDERWOOD, DAWN with oh-so-pink hair, pink eyeshadow, and hot pink lipstick and hubby VICTOR, DAVID and LOIS BROWN (LOIS in pink sparkles upholding her “Sparkle Plenty” legend) Publishing Maven CATHERINE, Fabulous FABIOLA, HELEN from Seattle, Vivacious Valerie Perrine look-alike PAMELA, Kaptivating KAT and friend MARGARITA from Nicaragua, ANA ISABEL and HUW, and the Godfather of Troncones, DEWEY, in a Mexican pink toga. Other partygoers included Cosmic FERRAR ala Princess Leia, Headturner CAROLYN, and TIM.
THEY’RE BAAACK!
The Princeton Pups were back in town and attended the above soiree as well. MIKE The Hunk, ERIC The Viking, LOUIS The Lover, TY El Terible, and LAUREN The Lion Tamer (aka Millertime) arrived in Z as preppies and left town markedly de-prepped. Under the watchful eye of the Kaptivating One and Tia J (that would be me) these very bright and shining boys and girl became a bit less bright and shining and a lot more down and dirty. Sunset found the group taking a swim at Manzanillo Bay and later they joined the locals for the cockfights in front of La Tortuga. Later in the week they hiked over the mountain above La Ropa to Manzanillo Beach with Z-Always Amazing MARGO and LULU leading the way. There they met up with LULU’S friend ERIC, Captain BILL of The Ninfa del Mar and CATHERINE, and TERESA and JANET from Houston. They spent nights sampling Mexican libation at La Jungle, arrachera at The Sanka Grill, and dancing at Zen. All in all they had a blast and I loved every minute of their visit…except for a few moments when we thought we lost LOUIS the Lover only to have found him sleeping accidentally in someone else’s room at La Tortuga???
PARTY ON…
Memories Are Made Of This: Scintillating CINDEE LEO and hubby DAN gave a smashing party at their glorious “swankienda” above La Ropa. Among those taking in the spectacular view, delicious food and great vibes were the Charming CLAIRE and TONY, The Enigmatic JEREMY PAZ, Sassy CISSY and RICK, DAN’S daughter SUSAN and son-in-law OGDEN, INEZ, GRACIELLA, ROB and LUPITA, JUDITH and BILL, LOGAN and PAM, ED KUNZE, MONA FELTS, Charismatic KATE of the Nirvana, beer mogul SEAN, Beauteous BEV and hubby ANDY, and Z-Best Friends and Jetsales Magnates JAY and SANDY MESINGER who have just bought a condo at Casa Que Ve El Mar, designed by the talented ENRIQUE ZOZAYA. “MS. EXTRAORDINAIRE” living up to her name, made the deal happen and I know for sure that The Magnetic Mesinger’s will be an exciting addition to our community.
Happy Birthday: Gracious GRACE was celebrating her special day with the Lively LEONORA, DR. GEORGE from Barra de Potosi and Huntington Beach, Ca, and BILL UNDERWOOD at the scrumptious Kau Kan. And who could be more hospitable and welcoming than owner/chef RICARDO? Later in the evening the group went to Coconuts to celebrate ISABEL’S birthday with her and friends who were happily dining under the stars at the popular eatery. Speaking of Coconuts, owners JOE and PATSY LOGIUDICE just returned from L.A. where they had a blast celebrating with ERIC IDLE of Monty Python on the anniversary of his 25th year of wedded bliss with wife TANYA. A lovely time was had by all at the birthday party for SHARI CRAWFORD at her Stunning Hotel Las Palmas at Playa Blanca. Hubby SCOTT hosted while brother DOUG tended bar and lots of friends and neighbors joined in the celebration.
Oscar Bash: Lots of glitz at the Oscar Party at Bandido’s where the Lively LEONORA showed up with over-the-top sunglasses, oversized polka dot hat and feather boa ala Mae West, Hostess CATHERINE was smashing in her Audrey Hepburn Holly GoLightly ensemble, BEV in snakeskin dress and DAWN Terrifically Trashy in Erin Brokovich style! OWEN LEE owner of the Las Gatas Beach Club appeared as his own charming self and others included BILL and ANNE, LINDA FOX, Dashing DAVID BROWN looking suave as ever, Cute and Irreverent KATHLEEN who is houseguesting with BEV and ANDY, SHERWIN from N.Y. and MELANIE from Ca. The winner of the Oscar balloting went to Z- new kid on the block SANDY MESINGER, the only one to choose the winners in every category.
RESTAURANT RAMBLINGS:
ESTHELA’S Cocina y Express Oriental is moving soon to a new location at the corner of Ejido and Vicente Guerrero and it promises to be mouth watering. TRONCONES: On April 25th at Cocina Del Sol (the restaurant at Eden in Troncones), owner/chef CHRISTIAN is hosting a fund- raiser and silent auction for the new Troncones Library in memory of BARB’S husband HARRY LINDLAN. And don’t forget Live Music at Atlantis with their Sunday Jazz Brunch, 11am-7pm, with weekly jazz performances.
IMAGINE
MTV Latin America was here filming three different shows during the week. They put on a “rave” over the weekend and 2000 people were brought in for the various events. One can only IMAGINE!
